Schedule shift for the New Year.

Inspired Unreality open game chat will be held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 11:00 AM to Noon, Central Time.

The Holidays may be over for you but we've got one more Holiday to go. We have a birthday party on January 14, so Inspired Unreality will resume starting on January 28.

If You Play You Win actual play will be held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays at 1:00 in the afternoon at Eclectic Geekery and on the internet. Some days we will be Cozy Adventuring In Tobbins Shire. Some days we'll have a one off with guest DMs. Some days I'll be livestreaming chill jazz piano in Beatles Park. On those days we will skip the actual play.

We hope to resume If You Play You Win in February depending on the weather and the Covid stats. If You Play You Win is also subject to Eclectic Geekery availability so, as always, we will send a Gamer+ News announcing our events.

In my other newsletter I discuss Bebop Beatniks new album, "Church".

I also talk about it some on my podcast, From The Archives Of Something Blue.

I got a nice Christmas present from my granddaughter, DM Lizard.

Did you ever want to run an adventure in colorful mountains? Here's a photo gallery of free culture and creative commons photos taken right here on Earth.

Join us for Inspired Unreality open game chat on Saturday, November 19, at 11:00 AM Central. All gaming is on topic and the opening topic will be Fantasy and Science Fiction.

Inspired Unreality is held in the gamerplus chatrooms at Tenkar's Tavern on Discord. There's more info and a link here.

Follow Me And Die posted about his twitch stream called How To Mastodon For Twitter Users - Keep in Touch with fellow TTRPG folks with the possible demise of Twitter.

You may have noted my Mastodon link in the signoff of these emails. I've been communicating in the fediverse for years. Mastodon is open source software run all over the world by businesses and hobbyists. I think it's about to achieve critical mass whether Twitter survives or not.

The fediverse is decentralized so you kind of have to shift gears in your head. Other apps besides Mastodon can communicate with Mastodon users, for example you can share your Peertube videos to Mastodon accounts and the replies somehow end up on your Peertube account.

Very interesting.

I posted 15 brilliant color fantasy illustrations from "The Russian Story Book" drawn by Frank C. Pape. Published in 1916 the illustrations are public domain.

Here's a joke I posted in the Newsfeed.

A priest, a pastor and a rabbit entered a clinic to donate blood. The nurse asked the rabbit: “what’s your blood type?”

“I’m probably a type O”, said the rabbit.

I get plenty of those.

It's our fiftieth! All those family games. Fifty years of family games. What a thing to think about.

Our family is coming in so there will be no Inspired Unreality open game chat in the morning. We will be back in two weeks on November 19. And then December 3 should finish the year. So, Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas. Wait! Didn't we just have Halloween?

For more info about Inspired Unreality and Gamer+ go here.

We went to Eclectic Geekery last Sunday and I enjoyed playing in Lizard's 5e game. I've never been an Elven Bard before. I lean to halfling.

I posted two public domain photo albums of fantasy art.

Etteilla’s Livre de Thot Tarot (ca. 1789)

Selected cards from a full Tarot deck.

The Children Of Odin

The Book of Northern Myths by Padraic Colum illustrated by Willy Pogany 1920.

I also have an interesting music project going, Creative Commons Jazz.

Make a playlist for your next game. Enjoy!

Inspired Unreality open game chat. Saturday mornings at 11:00 Central. This is the first Saturday in February so our broad topic is fantasy and science fiction. Our opening topic will be how RPGs follow trends in fantasy and science fiction literature.

Inspired Unrealty is held in the gamerplus chat rooms at Tenkar's Tavern on Discord. If you've never been to Tenkar's we have a link for you here.

I just finished rereading the Lyonesse Trilogy, a fantasy classic by Jack Vance. This trilogy includes some of the best descriptions of fairies in feyland I've ever read and I've read so much fey literature that feyland is like a second home to me. Highly recommended. Please post your recommendations today and we'll discuss them on Inspired Unreality Saturday morning.

I have been winnowing our home library by donating books to Eclectic Geekery, a new books and games store soon to open in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. My daughters, Sarah and Megan, are following their dream and I am supporting them any way I can.

ZDL sends New Years greetings. It is, in fact, The Year of the Tiger. Babies born in The Year of the Tiger show strength, bravery, and courage, ready to play a warrior in the RPG of their choice.

While posting to the Gamer+ Tumbler I found this amazing animation of Beth Fuller creating "in the cracking dusk" a beautiful piece of fantasy artwork. I posted the link on Gamer+.

It's a few minutes long and well worth the watch.

Follow Me And Die has been waiting on this moment and we've been chronicling it's immanence. "Hurray! Not sure what time this happened, but thank you to all you re-tweeted and especially to all who subbed. I took the day off work, so I'll put out a video later today." Congrats on 1K Youtube subscribers.

ZDL says, "新年快乐! (Happy New Year!)"

I posted 4 photos and a link to the Petar Meseldzija gallery. These are not public domain but they are fantastic.

So have a gander. Check some links. Make a post or a comment. And come join our podcast tonight.

Tonight on Inspired Unreality we are back to actual play. Alan wrote "The Chronicles Of Ember" and he is our game master. We fought the big bad undead guy and somehow survived and now we're going after the double crosser who left us to die. We'll see how this all works out tonight. Jump in if you'd like.

Inspired Unreality open game chat is held in the gamerplus chatrooms at Tenkar's Tavern on Discord at 9:00 Central every Monday night. If you've never been to Tenkar's Tavern we have an invite for you here.

Next week on Inspired Unreality we will be hosting the Related To Geeks Podcast with special guests Levi Combs and Will Hose. Our topic will be:

What players love. What players hate. What DMs love. What DMs hate.

Now theres a topic where everyone has an opinion.

ZDL posted another Fringe Review: Bloodshadows: Fantasy-Noir Roleplaying and it is up to her usual detailed standard.

Follow Me And Die is interested in feedback. He says, "I'm working on a master spreadsheet of gear & supplies price list for D&D and other fantasy RPGs." He's got all kinds of details and he wants you to help fill in the blanks.

There were a lot of great pictures posted on Gamer+ last week. MyrddinWyllt posted some gems to his gallery, Pulp Artwork And Inspiration.

And I took some of my best miniature photos to date. I printed it. I painted it. And I took the pictures. It's Ratzerker!

If you've got some favorite fantasy artwork or pics of your miniatures we'd love to see them. Just go to Photos and post your gallery.

Tonight! On Inspired Unreality!! Actual Play!!!

Alan wrote the game "The Chronicles Of Ember". He will be the DM for a oneoff tonight.

So, if you want to give a new game a try, join us. If I were to describe "The Chronicles Of Ember" in one word it would be dangerous. (And fun.)

Inspired Unreality is held every Monday night at 9:00 Central in the gamerplus chatrooms at Tenkar's Tavern on Discord. If you are new to Tenkar's Tavern we have an invitation for you here.

This picture keeps getting comments. ZDL says "There is rather a lot going on in this picture... ". This is true.

The Captive Robin

Click on over and add your comment. There's enough here for a whole campaign.

Follow Me And Die posted to his blog about "Magical Protections". He says "Spells and abilities that negate or remove magical effects are a bit confusing in AD&D and the DM would be well served to figure things out before they come up during play."

relatedtogeeks posted about Megan TV at - Like indie games? So does Megan.

I posted about my lesson this term. "For my composition lesson this Spring I am writing a book, "Beginning Algorithmic Compostition". What does this have to do with gaming?"

Join us tonight in Ember. Let us know what games you've been playing. Or writing. Or drawing. Post on Gamer+ or send me an email.

Inspired Unreality open game chat, tonight at 9:00 Central in the gamerplus chatrooms at Tenkar's Tavern on Discord. Our opening topic will be "And What Was Old Shall Now Be New", a nod to OSR and the end of 2020.

If you have never been to Tenkar's Tavern we have an invite for you here.

Follow Me And Die says, "I made a Worldbuilding cheatsheet on Cheatography. I didn't realize that a draft was visible until I started getting emails that it was seen 50, 100, and now 200 times." ZDL and hairylarry have responded with comments about world building RPGs. Have you played any world building RPGs or been involved in world building for gaming or fiction? Follow the link to join the discussion.

Follow Me And Die also says, "I have a third PDF that is now a Silver Best Seller on DriveThruRPG! Random Dungeon, City, & Travel Generation"

Tenkar posts about Knock! a new OSR Zine on Kickstarter. At 212 pages with great artwork and a bold layout this looks interesting.

I added another artist to our collection of public domain fantasy artwork featuring the work of W. Robinson. This fantastic line art could be used in a game, a quest book, or a coloring book.

Like the rest of you I am celebrating the demise of 2020. And What Was Old Shall Now Be New. There will be a post pandemic world.

Vivian and I are planning on celebrating the new year in our traditional style. We're staying home and going to bed early.

Gamer+ News June 1, 2020

Tonight on Inspired Unreality it's the Related To Geeks Podcast. We will be discussing "Podcasts and Vlogs - producing audio and video for the internet", in the gamerplus chat rooms at Tenkar's Tavern on discord. Inspired Unreality is open game chat. Everyone is invited to participate.

In two weeks we will host the Related To Geeks Book Club. Our book for June is "Circe" by Madeline Miller. Because it takes most of us more than a day to read a novel I try to make announcements in advance. For more about the Related To Geeks Book Club and to make suggestions for our upcoming reads here's the link to the group.

I enjoyed the Circle Of Worldbuilders Masterclass. I didn't have time to
tune in on Sunday but they will be posting the whole class and the notes for people to view/read on their own time.

More pictures in Tabletop Inspiration. Have you ever played The Battle For Wesnoth fantasy adventure video game? Well not only is it a great game but there's a lot of fantasy art made available under Creative Commons or GPL licenses. Enjoy!

Please forward this newletter to your game playing friends. Stay in touch and stay creative.

Gamer+ News, August 12, 2019

We have a guest tonight on Inspired Unreality, Caeora is a fantasy artist and mapmaker who has been working on Dungeonfog's Project Deios. We are going to have Ask Me Anything (about gaming) followed by our usual open game chat. Inspired Unreality starts at 9:00 PM, Central Time at Tenkar's Tavern on Discord.

Our ranks continue to grow. We now have over 70 gamers on Gamer+. And I've got to tell you, we are mostly creators including writers, artists, vloggers, and podcasters.

We have added gamer RSS feeds and homepage links for their blogs, podcasts, video channels, chat, actual play... You will see this in the footer on every page. The real gem is the "View last 60 items here" link. This updates more quickly than the FeedGrabbr scroll and it has the actual posts with pics and videos included.

And at the bottom of your profile page there is a tool to help you link to your profile page on Gamer+. Your audience wants to read your profile and they may stick around and join.

The final piece of news this week is that starting Monday, August 2, Inspired Unreality will host the Related To Geeks podcast, the podcast of a geeky family. We will discuss The Geek Topic and then go into open game chat. Everyone is welcome to participate. We are planning on making this a monthly event.
